Research Centre Centre for Arctic Studies at 兴发娱乐官网手机版客户端 University
The Centre for Arctic Studies at 兴发娱乐官网手机版客户端 University (CAS) focuses on developing a practice-oriented, interdisciplinary and engaged research that can play a key role in addressing challenges in the modern Greenlandic society as well as in other parts of the Arctic region. The centre prioritises synergies between research and educational development, as an extension of the ongoing collaboration on study structures and problem-oriented project work. CAS gathers and promotes RUC's research on Arctic conditions internally and profiles RUC externally. 兴发娱乐官网手机版客户端 do this by continuously developing relationships across the university and with relevant partners in the Arctic.
This is done by:
- developing and visualising the research that is already taking place on the Arctic
- supporting interdisciplinary research activities through network meetings, etc.
- planning relevant conferences
- develop bachelor's courses on the Arctic at RUC

The Centre for Arctic Studies at 兴发娱乐官网手机版客户端 University participate in a number of research projects. Among them are:
Politics of Green Investments: The Green Transition and Recognition of Colonial Relations in Greenland and Sápmi
The project investigates how the clash between the moral imperative to extract for the green transition and the moral imperative of a reckoning with past and ongoing colonial injustices is negotiated in extractive investments in Greenland and Swedish Sápmi.VALUE: Value Creation in Critical Raw Mineral and Green Energy Transition Projects
The project explores a core dilemma of the green transition: 兴发娱乐官网手机版客户端 need large investments in green energy and mining of critical minerals to combat climate change, but these investments often encroach on land belonging to indigenous and local communities and threaten their livelihoods and identities. Through a study of four very different cases in Greenland and South Africa the research will unpack how, why and by whom social and corporate value is defined and distributed in large green transition investment projects.Management in Greenland
The research project aims to strengthen leadership practice in Greenland by developing empirical descriptions that analytically get close to the collective practices leaders engage in.Sustainable value chains in Nordic coastal communities
The NORVALUE project investigates how people in Nordic Atlantic local communities are involved in connections and linkages crucial to their livelihoods and survival as a part of the Nordic Atlantic societies of Greenland, Iceland, Faroe Islands and Northern Norway. You can find a list of research projects on the 兴发娱乐官网手机版客户端 University Research Portal.
